5 Things to Decide Before Floating the Buffalo River

Dirst Canoe Rental & Log Cabins | Floating | August 27, 2018

Before setting out on your float trip down the Buffalo National River, there are a few things you need to think about and decide. Take a look at the content below to help you put together your next trip. And if you have any questions or need help putting things together, we are only a phone call away.

WHAT WILL I NEED TO BRING TO FLOAT THE BUFFALO?
Although Dirst Canoe offers everything you need to get started on your float trip, there are a few items you may want to bring from home. The first to put on your list is water. You can freeze water bottles the night before so that your water will be nice and cold when you need it. You should also plan out your meals for the day and make sure you have enough. Zip lock bags and waterproof bags are also a good idea. At least one person in the group should have a cell phone just in case. You can keep the phone dry by placing it in one of the plastic zip bags or waterproof bag.

These are just a few things to bring. You may also want to bring sunscreen, dependable water shoes, and a cooler with bungees. Your complete list will really depend on how long you plan to float and what you plan to do after you are off the river.

WHAT THINGS DO I WANT TO DO DURING MY FLOAT TRIP DOWN THE BUFFALO?
The possibilities are endless when it comes to floating the Buffalo National River. You can simply float along the river and take in all of the surrounding natural beauty. You can have a picnic on one of the many sandbars you encounter. And if you don’t mind the water being a little on the chilly side, you can take a swim.

HOW LONG DO I WANT TO FLOAT THE BUFFALO?
Figuring out how long you want to be on the river is a big part of planning your overall trip down the Buffalo. With Dirst Canoe Rental, you get a variety of options. We offer float trips to fit many different degrees of adventure. Our day trips range from a short two and a half hour trip to a six-hour trip. And if you are feeling like taking your experience to the next level, we even offer a 14-day trip. We can even put together a custom trip if you would like.

HOW MANY FRIENDS WILL I INVITE ON MY FLOAT TRIP?
You should invite at least one other person to join you on your trip down the Buffalo River. But as the saying goes, “the more, the merrier.” At Dirst Canoe, we specialize in groups large or small. If you need help with putting everything together for your large group, just give us a call. We would love to help.

WHERE WILL I GO AFTER THE FLOAT TRIP IS COMPLETE?
Spending the day out on the river can take a lot out of you. Take the hassle out of having to pack up everything to get back home by staying the night in one of our log cabins. You can cook up a nice meal and sit outside with family and friends while you relax, tell stories, and just laugh a little. Doesn't that sound nice?
